ALIEN Rogue Incursion Early Look-Dev Work

I had the privilege of working with the talented, and overall just awesome people over at Survios as the Environment Art Lead on Rogue Incursion for a brief time in 2021 - 2022. At that time it was pretty early in the development cycle and a decent chunk of my time was spent working with our Art Director and Concept Artists to try and flush out a visual style that was unique to the game, but still felt like it belonged in the Alien/Aliens universe with a bit of bias towards the 1986 film. So here is some look-dev work I did during that time to try and get a sense of an actual in-game environment. This is all running in Unreal, and this was when the first official UE5 build came out ( v5.0.0 ) so also, in addition to look-dev duties, I also used this to evaluate Unreal 5 in it's very early state at that time. In version 5.0.0 Lumen and VSM was in a pretty rough state, with significant noise in emissive lighting being the main problem I was having. And this was LONG before Megalights so trying to keep the light actor count low was a challenge. It ran decently well on the RTX 3070 GPUs we were using at the time, with the main problem ( for this look-dev ENV specifically ) was exceeding the 8GB of VRAM on the GPU. Since I am a huge Alien/Aliens fan, it was super fun to work on this project for the time I did get to spend on it. Hope you all enjoy, thanks everyone!

So this was an early Environment Concept piece that one of our awesome Concept artists did, which I added my own little contribution to as well, do you see it??? Hint: Which of these things does not belong?
